Obituary:Doris Day, 87, of 2101 Forbes Road, Vincennes, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Thursday April 26th, 2012 at her residence.
She was born February 3, 1925 in Edwardsport to Fred & Hilda (Buescher) Horst. She was a graduate of Freelandville High School and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Doris served as a Girl Scout troop leader, was active in the Washington School PTA, and the Lincoln-Clark Band Boosters.
Surviving are her eight children, Dolores (Larry) Stava of Cottage Grove, WI, Nick (Dianne) Day of Oaktown, Lorraine (Mark) Humes of Carmel, Barbara Irons and her late husband Bill, of John’s Creek, GA, Kevin (Loretta) Day of Vincennes, David Day and his companion, Sandy Swick of Vincennes , Stephen Day of Bonita Springs, FL, and Douglas (Dawn ) Day of Atlanta, GA.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Renee Marchese, Eric Stava, Ashley Becher, Sarah Potter, Nicholas Humes, Elizabeth Irons, Christopher Irons, Stephen Day, Joseph Day, Aspen Day, Sierra Day, William Day, and Brian Day; and four great grandchildren, Mia and Jack Machese, and Maddie and Carter Hedden
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 ½ years, Joseph Day, who passed away on October 17, 2009, and a brother, DeWayne Horst.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday April 30, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. David Fleck officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
