Obituary: Larry “Joe” Rutledge, 69, of Vincennes, passed away July 24, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He had retired from Overnight Trucking in 1994, and prior to that had driven a truck for Scott Lad. An Army veteran, Larry was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and 40 et 8. He enjoyed IU basketball, and always looked forward to March Madness. Larry also enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Born Sept. 29, 1942 in Danville, IL, he was the son of James and Rene (Winterstein) Rutledge. His parents preceded him, as well as his wife, Georgia (Redman) Rutledge, who passed away Jan. 13, 2001; two sisters, Margaret Rutledge and Erma Hurt; and two brothers, Bub Rutledge and Wayne Rutledge.
Surviving are his daughters, Lori Lyon of Vincennes, and Amy Putts of Rensselaer, IN; a son, Joe (Kristina) Rutledge of Terre Haute, IN; two sisters, Kay Hurt and Cindy Clyden, both of Hoopston, IL; and his grandchildren, Paige Putts, Drennan Lyon, Parker Lyon, Sam Putts, Jacob Rutledge, and Kaleb Rutledge.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5:00 – 8:00, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. The funeral service will be held on Friday, at 11:00. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
