Jerry R. “Pres” Burns, 61, of Vincennes, passed away at his home on March 15, at 10:20 p.m.
He had worked for many years for the Vincennes Street and Sanitation Dept. Jerry was a member of the Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville, IL.
Born Oct. 28, 1950 in Centralia, IL, he was the son of Roosevelt and Ophelia (Jeter) Burns. His father preceded him.
Surviving is his mother, Ophelia Burns, of Vincennes, IN; his wife, Renee (Williams) Burns; children, Brittney Eanes of Lawrenceville, IL, Zachary Carter of Vincennes, Careen Like of Indianapolis, IN, Toba Fuller of Fishers, IN, Danielle Engelkins of Centralia, IL, and Shawnda Burns, Olney, IL; brothers and sisters, Dorthery Hollowey of Vincennes, Mildred Burns of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara Burns of Phoenix, AZ, Joseph E. Burns of Vincennes, IN, Julian Burns of Mt. Vernon, IL, Earice Burns of Euclid, OH, Earlando Burns of Phoenix, AZ, Areta Cummings of Douglas, GA, Darren Burns of Centralia, IL, and Carol Currie of Vincennes; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 4:00 – 8:00 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 21, at 11:00 EDT, at the Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville, IL, with Pastor Jason Donaldson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes.
